Back pain is a major social problem for which the most effective strategy to date has been active exercise, in whatever form.
All the more reason to put back pain into a broader (motor) perspective. In this way, new insights are being gained that should lead to more effective strategies.
The success of any motor strategy depends on the long-term commitment and motivation of the "motor learner": the patient with back problems, the injured athlete or any health-conscious participant.
In addition, "motoric teachers" such as physiotherapists, sports teachers and fitness trainers should be trained to provide the right (insight into) motor skills and to lead with correctly dosed movement.
