An review

For learners and beginners of all therapeutic professions a good supplement to connect the disciplines, a must have for aspiring coaches and sports teachers.

Good structure → The book creates an easy-to-understand link between neurology and movement physiology and, through knowledge of motor learning, gives us conclusions about the resulting therapy and training. Surprisingly entertaining, one is guided through the short chapters by inserted examples from sports, for physiological movement in everyday life and linked with interesting study results. At the beginning, it leads systematically from the first consciously controlled movements of the infant to the changes in motor function in adulthood, i.e. the basics of all therapeutic professions. From there, the author takes a very practical approach to proprioceptive neurology. Further on, fine motor skills and their assisting systems are specifically addressed. Here I come across seldom-read topics such as occulomotion, speech motor skills and body language. In the context of some movement examples, central and peripheral processing is linked to the accompanying reactions of consciousness. How can we influence motor processes with our consciousness and where does this voluntary motor activity have its limits? Easy to read and a refreshing read even for experienced therapists. For learners and beginners of all therapeutic professions a good supplement to connect the disciplines, a must have for future trainers and sports teachers.
